REVIEW: The Starlit Jewel Songs of J.R.R. Tolkien with music by fantasy author Marion Zimmer Bradley, Kristoph Klover, and Margaret Davis

If you are a Tolkien fan, get the CD. It's a "must" for your Tolkien collection and you'll enjoy the music. I've heard better Tolkien-inspired music, (I'm especially fond of Kim Skovbye's "There and Back Again" CD), but this is most definitely a keeper. I didn't much care for their rendition of the "Merry Old Inn" song, (remember Frodo sang that at The Prancing Pony), and the Bath Song doesn't much interest me; but, In Durin's Day is VERY well done as is Galadriel's Lament. The Troll Song...well, I guess everyone feels they need to do Sam's Troll Song, but I wouldn't have missed it if they had left it out. Then again, Lament for Boromir is amazing and made me forget all about the redundant Troll Song.

If you're a Tolkien fan, go get it. If you're a fan of Celtic music, you will enjoy it, but I don't think you'll flip and put it up there with your Loreena McKennitt CDs!
